MARTIN + LESLIE foster city, california

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Leslie and Martin, a stellar young couple from the San Francisco Bay Area. They were so much fun, and such good sports! The location I suggested was gorgeous, but a little difficult to get to – Clad in rain boots we tromped through the mud together…of course it was totally worth it! Their portraits came out beautifully – I wish them the best of luck together!

We were joined by hair and makeup artist, Victoria Toda. Victoria did a great job! She even came along with us while we were shooting just in case any touch-ups were needed, and was a great sport about helping to carry equipment (and rescuing me and my new Canon 5D mark II from the mud!)

Once we were finished with makeup, we headed out to the wildlife preserve at the edge of Foster City, CA. Leslie and Martin were super easy to work with – they were up for anything! Martin was totally laid back and had a great sense of humor. Leslie is an absolutely gorgeous girl…and she loved the camera – what more could I ask for!!

I wanted to share some images I’ve taken in my front yard over the last week. I have the pleasure of living right on the water just outside of San Francisco, and the amount of animal life I have the opportunity to observe is just amazing! Life in California has been quite a change from the climate of New York! I’ve been taking full advantage of being able to spend a lot of time outside. I’ve gotten quite a few new photography toys over the last few months, and these birds have become my unsuspecting test models. Trying to capture these birds in focus as they dart around in the water and on the grass has been great practice to keep my eye in shape for wedding season! The King Heron (seen above and below) is one of the most elegant animals I have ever witnessed. Truly beautiful…Who knows – maybe this is the beginning of a blossoming career in wildlife photography!
